Effective September 9, 2026 · updated September 20, 2026 to cover the Season Pass checkout, and September 25, 2026 to cover the Deal Drop sign-up on the board and the team pages
The short version: FanDetour is a static website. It has no accounts, no advertising trackers, and it sets no cookies. Visits are counted on the server (see below) — no script watches you. The only personal information we ever receive is what you type into one of our forms, plus the order details if you buy a Season Pass — and each is used for exactly one thing. Your card details never reach us at all: the pass checkout runs on Lemon Squeezy's own page.
What we collect
- The waitlist form. If you ask us to price your city, we receive the city, team and email address you enter. The form is processed by Formspree, which delivers it to our inbox; Formspree's own privacy policy applies to that handling. We use your email for one purpose: telling you when your city is priced.
- The Season Pass forms. On the pass page, while the pass is not yet on sale, you can leave your email and we receive it with the teams you ticked, the city you chose and the bundle price shown. If your city is not priced yet, the pass page's own city form sends us the city, team and email you enter, the same as the waitlist. Same Formspree handling in both cases. We use them for one purpose each: one email when the pass is on sale, or one email when your city is priced.
- The Tuesday Deal Drop, only if you ask for it. There are two ways to ask. On the city form it is a separate box, never pre-ticked; if you tick it we send your email address and the city you typed. On the board and on each team page there is a Deal Drop box whose only purpose is signing up; if you use it we send your email address, the city and team that page was showing, the page's address, and the campaign name on the link if you arrived from one of our posts or ads. Either way they go to Buttondown, who run the newsletter; their privacy policy applies to that handling. The city and team are stored so we know which cities and clubs people actually follow. Every edition carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from their list entirely. Ticking the box does not change what we do with the waitlist entry, and if you use neither, Buttondown never receives anything about you. We do not send anything else, and we never sell or share your details.
- Buying a Season Pass. The checkout runs on Lemon Squeezy, not on this site, so your card details never touch FanDetour and we never see them. What reaches us is the order: your email address, the teams you picked and the city you chose, which is what we need to build your pass and email you the link. We keep that for as long as the pass runs and through the following season, so we can offer you the same teams again.
- Three things your own browser remembers. Your bright/dark choice, and — on the Detour Board — which venues you tick off as already visited. Both are saved in your browser's own storage under the names fd-theme and fd-visited. Neither ever leaves your device, neither is a cookie, and we cannot see either one. Clearing your browser data deletes them. If you open the link from a Season Pass email, that browser also keeps your pass key, under fd-pass. Unlike the other two, the key is sent to our own server each time the Detour Board or the Crew Brief opens, so it can check the pass is live and hand back the pairings the pass unlocks. It goes to fandetour.com and nowhere else, it is stored on our side only as a scrambled hash next to the team and city you bought, and clearing your browser data deletes it (open your pass link again to restore it). Added 2026-09-20.
What third parties see
- Netlify hosts the site and, like any web host, keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested). We use Netlify Analytics, which counts visits from those same server logs — no cookies, no scripts on the page, no profiles, and nothing added to what the host already sees. It shows us totals like page views and top pages.
- Lemon Squeezy runs the Season Pass checkout and is the seller of record for it. They take the payment, hold the card details and handle sales tax; we never receive a card number. Everything you enter on their checkout page is covered by their privacy policy.
- Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces; loading them sends your IP address to Google's font servers, as with most of the web.
- Links out to airlines, ticket marketplaces or booking sites are governed by those sites' own policies once you leave ours.
How long we keep it
Waitlist entries sit in our inbox and in Formspree's submission archive until your city is priced and you've been told, and are cleared out after 12 months either way. The browser-side preferences above are yours and last until you clear them.
No AI, and no profile of you
FanDetour has no AI features. Nothing you type into this site is sent to an AI model, and nothing you type trains one. Every figure on the board is arithmetic over airline fares and published government lodging rates — no model decides what you see, and we build no profile of you. If that ever changes, this page says so before the feature ships.
Removal
